All you need to know before you schedule a lesson

  • Do you work with students with special needs?
Yes! Teachers are able to work with students with various special needs. Some have their Special Education Additional Qualification (AQ) for the College of Teachers, as well, which aids in providing tools for students. Each teacher that joins our team will have an 'About' page with information that includes their AQs. It is also very helpful to the teacher working with your child to share their IEP so we are aware of accommodations or modifications in their program at school.
  • What is 'Teaching with a twist?'
'Teaching with a Twist' is how we separate ourselves from other tutors by providing tools outside of tutoring to help your child continue to be successful. We are happy to discuss this more in our 20-minute free meeting.
  • Do teachers have up-to date Vulnerable Sector Checks with the Waterloo Regional Police?
Yes. All teachers who teach with Achieve to Succeed have a Vulnerable Sector Check that is three years old or less. They are available to see upon request.
  • Do you have a Chromebook to assist with student help and organization?
Yes. Currently, we have one Chromebook for students to use during their session.
  • Do you work with English Language Learners?
Absolutely! Teachers who work with ELL students will have at least one Additional Qualification written by the College of Teachers to enable to work effectively with students.
  • Where are you located?
We are located in North Waterloo, close to the St. Jacobs Market. (close by crossroads are Northfield Dr and Weber St. N, Waterloo). It is easily accessible to off the expressway for people coming from Kitchener or Waterloo.
  • Do you have math, reading and writing teaching supplies to work with students?
Absolutely! We have a full classroom set up at the Waterloo location with math manipulatives, reading and writing activities, Chromebook, and more. Basically, we have everything that a regular classroom teacher has at this location at our fingertips!
  • What are your days availability?
We are available for tutoring Monday-Friday from 4:15-9:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Currently, M-F hours are changing to accommodate preschool students and will be reflected.
  • What if my child is not able to attend their session?
If your child is not able to attend, you are asked to provide at least 3 days' notice unless your child is sick. If possible, we can reschedule to a different day if it works with our schedules.
  • Do you have a rate if I have more than one child attending or my child attends more than once per week?
The answer is 'YES' to both of those questions! There is a multi-child family rate and a bi-weekly attendance rate. In both instances, the family will receive a discount of $5/session. If you have more than two children attending or your child attends more than twice a week, ask about a further discount!
  • Do I need to stay while my child is being tutored or can I drop my child off and return at the end of the session?
You are welcome to do either. There is a comfortable waiting area for you to sit during the session. Alternately, you will be given an invite to a Google Meet where you can either watch or check-in with your child's progress during the session anytime. You can also go back and follow what we have worked on if you would like as you will have access to the session indefinitely.
